Make the Right Choice and Save Elsewhere

There can be a big difference in the bras you buy. Not only in types, but also in price and quality. Cheap bras are mostly for looks. They don’t offer much support, and their durability is minimal. In the long run, this is costly since you’ll need to replace them more often. It’s better to save up and buy a quality bra. Better to have a few good ones than many poor ones. Once you experience the support and comfort of a quality bra, you’ll never go back. It improves your posture and appearance. A good bra also supports your back by properly holding your bust, preventing unnecessary strain.

Remember to use the right bra for every occasion. If you exercise or are very active, a regular bra won’t be enough. Layering tight tops isn’t ideal either. You need a proper sports bra, and you shouldn’t opt for the cheapest one. The more active you are, the more important proper support becomes.

Do You Wash Your Bra Correctly?

Many women machine wash their bras because it’s convenient, but do you know how much damage this causes? Using a laundry bag helps, but hand washing is always best. Machine washing slowly destroys your bras. Nine out of ten damages we see are from machine washing. Heat or getting caught in the machine causes most issues. Sometimes it even damages the washing machine.

Why Does the Underwire Come Out of the Bra?

Most have experienced an underwire poking out. It may happen with old bras or even newer ones. Rarely, it’s due to poor stitching. Often, though, it’s due to machine washing. Metal underwires have silicone tips to prevent them from poking out. Hot water dissolves the silicone, leaving sharp edges that cut through the fabric. Eventually, the underwire breaks free.

It’s only a matter of time if you machine wash your bras. It’s easy to avoid—hand wash your bras.

Do You Always Buy the Right Bra Size?

Many buy bras that are too large in the cup or band. The band should provide most support, not the straps. A new bra should fasten on the outermost hook to allow the band to stretch over time. If you can only fasten it on the tightest hook from the start, the band is too large.

What If the Innermost Hook Isn’t Enough?

If your bra feels loose on the innermost hook, it’s time to replace it. Nothing lasts forever, not even bras. If it no longer fits snugly, it’s time for a new one.

Is Your Bra Too Tight in the Band?

If the band is too tight but the bra is otherwise fine, you can extend it with a bra extender. This small piece adds 5–10 cm to the band length.

Ulla Dessous, our German supplier, makes bras up to cup size L. Founded in 1948, they specialize in high-end lingerie. Ulla bras are more expensive but offer exceptional support and luxurious quality, especially for very large busts.

Underwire or No Underwire?

Whether an underwire bra or a wire-free bra is better depends on your needs. Underwire bras provide extra lift and support. Wire-free bras offer a looser fit for comfort. Many women choose both types for different occasions.

What If Your Breasts Are Different Sizes?

If one breast is larger, choose a size that fits the larger one. You can use padding to balance the smaller side if needed.

Why Do Straps Dig In?

Most of the support should come from the band, not the straps. If straps dig in, loosen them and ensure the band fits snugly. Adjust straps regularly as the elastic stretches over time.

Which Color is Best?

Color is a personal choice, but neutral tones work best under light clothing. A nude bra is nearly invisible under white, while white bras can still show through.
